Alexandra Palace sits at the top of one of the best hills in London. The views stretch all the way to the City on a clear day, the park is genuinely lovely, and the venue itself puts on events year-round that draw people from across the country — and overseas.
But once you’re up there, the food options are limited. Which is exactly why Beans & Blues, just 8 minutes walk away on Muswell Hill Broadway, has become the go-to for anyone visiting Ally Pally.
How Close Is It?
From the Alexandra Palace main entrance, it’s a straightforward 8-minute walk downhill to Muswell Hill Broadway. You’re heading south — the view the whole way is worth it. We’re at 237 Muswell Hill Broadway, N10 1DE, right on the high street. Hard to miss.
If you’re coming from Alexandra Palace rail station, it’s even closer — about 4 minutes on foot.
Before an Event: Book Ahead
If you’re heading to a concert, the darts, or an exhibition at Ally Pally, the best move is to eat first. Venue food is expensive and you lose time queuing. Walk down to us, take your time over a proper meal, then walk back up. Doors usually open 90 minutes before showtime — plenty of room to eat well.
For groups of 4 or more heading to an event, we’d recommend booking ahead so your table’s ready when you arrive.
After an Event: Last Orders at 8pm
We’re open until 8pm every day, kitchen open the full time. Most Ally Pally events finish by 7pm or later — if you’re quick off the mark, you can still make it down for a post-show cocktail and something to eat. Worth checking the event finish time.
What’s On the Menu
We serve all day — breakfast from 7am right through to 8pm. The full menu is always available:
- Breakfast & Brunch: Full English, Turkish Breakfast, Eggs Benedict, Pancakes, Smashed Avo, free-range eggs by Cacklebean
- Lunch & Dinner: Big sharing plates, burgers, chicken wraps, mezze platters, halloumi, salads, kids menu
- Coffee: Ozone Roasters specialty coffee — flat whites, cortados, cold brew
- Draught Beer: Moretti on draught — cold pint, no fuss
- Cocktails & Wine: House cocktails, Aperol Spritz, Prosecco, Bloody Mary, wine by the glass
Full halal menu available. Vegetarian and vegan options throughout.
What’s On at Alexandra Palace?
Ally Pally runs a packed calendar. Here’s what brings people down our way throughout the year:
- PDC World Darts Championship — December and January, 16 sessions, tens of thousands of fans
- Concerts & Festivals — the venue holds up to 10,800 people for live music
- Roller Disco, Ice Rink — family-friendly attractions running in season
- Exhibitions & Trade Shows — year-round events across multiple halls
- Alexandra Park — open daily, fantastic for morning walks before breakfast
Groups Coming to Ally Pally?

Staying Nearby?
If you’re visiting from out of town for a tournament or multi-day event, Muswell Hill has several hotels and guesthouses within easy reach of both Ally Pally and us. We’re a good base for breakfast before a morning session and dinner after an evening one.
Book your table here, or just walk in — we’ll find you a spot.
Every December and January, Alexandra Palace transforms. Tens of thousands of darts fans descend on Muswell Hill from across the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Australia — and the rest of the world. Sixteen sessions, packed crowds, fancy dress, and an atmosphere unlike anything else in British sport.
If you’re one of them: welcome. And here’s everything you need to know about eating and drinking near Ally Pally during the World Championship.
The Best Restaurant Near Ally Pally for Darts Fans
Beans & Blues is 8 minutes walk from Alexandra Palace. We’re open from 7am until 8pm every day — which means we cover the morning session crowd (first throw is usually around noon) and the evening session crowd (doors around 6:30pm).
We’ve become the go-to for fans who want a proper meal rather than expensive venue food. Full English before the afternoon session. Cocktails and dinner after the evening one. We’ll even watch it with you if there’s something big on.
Morning Sessions: Breakfast Before the Darts
Afternoon sessions at the Worlds typically start around noon. Doors open around 11:30. That gives you time for a proper sit-down breakfast at Beans & Blues before heading up the hill.
Try the Full English — free-range eggs, proper bacon, the works. Or if you want something lighter, the eggs benedict or smashed avocado. We’re open from 7am and it never feels rushed.
If you’re in a group, let us know in advance and we’ll have the tables ready.
Evening Sessions: Dinner First, Then the Darts
Evening sessions start around 7pm. Get here at 5pm, have a relaxed dinner — big sharing plates, mezze, a pint of draught Moretti — and walk up in good time. The walk up the hill takes about 8 minutes and gives you time to settle in before the first leg.
After the Darts: We’re Open Until 8pm
Most afternoon sessions finish by 5pm or 6pm. If you’re quick, you can be sitting down at Beans & Blues for a post-session drink and something to eat before 6:30. We’re open until 8pm kitchen and bar.

Many fans stay in Muswell Hill, Wood Green, or Crouch End for the duration of the Championship — especially if attending multiple sessions. If that’s you, Beans & Blues is an easy daily base. Breakfast to start the day, lunch between sessions, dinner and cocktails to end it.

The best lunch in Muswell Hill is the same lunch you’d have on a Saturday — same kitchen, same menu, same coffee — but without the wait, without the noise, and without the slight anxiety of watching someone hover near your table waiting for you to leave.
That lunch exists Tuesday to Friday at Beans & Blues. This is why it’s better than the weekend.
The Weekend Problem in Muswell Hill
Muswell Hill brunch is popular. On a Saturday, the better cafés on the Broadway will have a queue from 10am. That’s fine if you’ve planned for it and you’re in the mood. But it’s a different experience from a proper, unhurried weekday lunch.
The Saturday experience: queue, wait, slightly rushed service because tables are in demand, background noise of 30 people having 30 conversations simultaneously.
The Tuesday experience: walk in or book, sit down, order, wait a normal amount of time for food, eat in peace, stay as long as you want.
Why Beans & Blues on a Weekday
Beans & Blues is Muswell Hill’s highest-rated café — 4.8★ on Google, 274+ reviews. That rating doesn’t drop on a Tuesday. The kitchen doesn’t phone it in midweek. The Cacklebean eggs are the same. The Ozone Roasters coffee is the same.
What changes on a weekday: there’s always a table. Service is less stretched. The space is quieter. You can have a conversation without leaning forward.
Good Reasons to Come for a Weekday Lunch
- Working from Muswell Hill and need a proper break from the desk
- Meeting someone and want a relaxed venue where you can actually hear each other
- Taking time for yourself — the kind of lunch that feels like a small treat
- You like brunch food but hate weekend crowds
- You have dietary requirements and want to ask the kitchen a question without feeling like you’re causing a problem
What to Order at a Weekday Lunch
The full menu is available all day, seven days a week. For a proper weekday lunch, the things that consistently land well:
- Turkish Breakfast (£14.50) — The full spread. Takes time to eat properly, which is the point.
- Avocado, Scrambled Eggs, Crumbled Feta, Hot Honey (£13) — One of the best things on the menu.
- Grilled Chicken, Avocado & Halloumi Salad (£15) — If you want something lighter.
- Flat White from Ozone Roasters (£3.80) — And then another one.
Booking or Walk-In
Tuesday to Friday, walk-ins almost always get a table immediately. If you’re coming with more than 4 people or want to be sure of a specific time, you can book via the reservation page.

If you’ve searched for halal brunch in Muswell Hill, you’ve probably noticed the options are thinner than you’d expect for an area this size. This post is an honest look at what’s available — and why Beans & Blues is the choice that most people end up making.
What Makes a Good Halal Brunch?
It’s not just about whether the meat is certified. A proper halal brunch in 2025 means halal sausage and bacon that actually tastes like something, eggs cooked properly, a kitchen that understands what it’s doing, and — critically — enough on the menu that the non-halal members of your group aren’t stuck with two options.
That’s a harder brief than it sounds.
Halal Brunch Options in Muswell Hill N10
The Broadway has a small number of cafés. Most serve standard brunch. A smaller number serve halal. Of those, most close before 4pm — which rules them out for a late brunch or early lunch.
Beans & Blues serves halal meat throughout, is open from 7am to 8pm every day, and has the highest Google rating on Muswell Hill Broadway: 4.8★ from 274+ reviews. It’s not a halal-specific restaurant — it’s a full-service all-day café that happens to use halal meat, which means the full menu is available to everyone in your group.
The Halal Brunch Menu at Beans & Blues
The options that are consistently popular for halal brunch:
- Turkish Breakfast (£14.50) — Sucuk (halal), halloumi, fried eggs, honey, clotted cream, filo pastry, feta, olives, tomatoes, cucumber. A full spread. One of those dishes that takes 40 minutes to finish and still leaves you wanting more.
- Full English (£13) — Halal Cumberland sausage and bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, mushroom, beans, tomatoes. The standard done properly.
- Turkish Eggs (£11.50) — Poached eggs on garlic yogurt with paprika butter. One of the best things on the menu. Add sucuk for £3.50.
- Eggs Benedict, Royale, Florentine or Heaven (£12–£14) — Classic brunch, done right, with Cacklebean free-range eggs and hollandaise.
What About Groups?
If you’re organising a halal brunch for a group — family celebration, birthday, work outing — Beans & Blues handles it regularly. Tables for groups of 7 or more can be arranged via the group bookings enquiry form. The kitchen can accommodate large tables without the food arriving in three separate waves.
When to Come
Weekends are busy. The queue on Saturday mornings is real — not unmanageable, but present. Tuesday to Friday between 8am and 11am is the window where you’ll always get a table immediately, the service is unhurried, and the food is exactly the same.

It’s 6:30pm on a Tuesday. You’re in Muswell Hill and you want to sit somewhere, have something to eat, maybe a drink. You start looking at options. This is where things get frustrating.
The Reality of Late Eating in Muswell Hill
Muswell Hill is a neighbourhood, not a high street. That means most of its cafés operate on café hours — open by 8am, closed by 5pm or 6pm. By the time the evening starts, the options narrow sharply to restaurants and takeaways.
If you want to sit in a café-style setting — relaxed, no dress code, order what you want, stay as long as you need — the options after 5pm are limited. After 6pm, they become very limited. After 7pm, on a weekday, Beans & Blues is the only café on Muswell Hill Broadway still open.
Beans & Blues: Open Until 8pm Every Day
The kitchen closes at 8pm, seven days a week. That means full food service — the entire menu — until 8pm. Not a reduced menu. Not “we’ve stopped taking food orders.” The whole thing.
What this looks like in practice:
- After-work drinks and something to eat at 6pm ✓
- Early dinner with the family before 7pm ✓
- Late coffee and dessert at 7:30pm ✓
- A proper Negroni on a Tuesday evening because Tuesday needed it ✓
The Evening Menu
The full menu is available all day, including in the evening. This includes:
- Lunch and dinner mains — burgers, wraps, platters, salads (from £10)
- Cocktails — Espresso Martini, Passion Fruit Martini, Negroni (£10 each)
- Ozone Roasters coffee until close
- Desserts
- Full kids menu if you’re bringing the family
Why This Matters
From 4pm onwards on a weekday, Beans & Blues has Muswell Hill Broadway largely to itself for café-style dining. The competitors that exist in the neighbourhood either close in the afternoon or operate as full restaurants with restaurant pricing and formality.

Before anyone orders food, they order coffee. It’s the first thing that lands on the table, the first impression we make — and it’s the reason we chose Ozone Roasters from day one.
We serve Ozone Coffee Roasters at Beans & Blues, and if you’ve sat at one of our tables with a flat white in hand, you’ve already tasted why.
Who Are Ozone?
Ozone started in New Zealand and set up their London roastery in Shoreditch, where they source, roast and deliver some of the most carefully produced coffee in the city. They work directly with farms — often visiting them in person — and roast in small batches to keep quality consistent and traceable.
They’re not a volume roaster. They’re a craft roaster. And that distinction matters when every cup you serve carries your name on it.
Why We Chose Them
We looked at a lot of roasters when we were setting up Beans & Blues. The decision came down to three things: taste, consistency, and values.
On taste — Ozone’s espresso has a natural sweetness and depth that works beautifully both as a straight shot and in milk-based drinks. A flat white made with their beans is genuinely something to stop and notice. That’s what we wanted our customers to experience.
On consistency — specialty coffee lives and dies by consistency. A roaster who delivers different results from batch to batch creates problems for a kitchen team trying to dial in the same extraction every morning. Ozone’s quality control is exceptional.
On values — Ozone publishes their sourcing relationships openly. They pay above commodity price, support sustainable farming practices, and don’t hide behind vague “ethically sourced” labels. For us, that alignment matters.
What You’ll Taste in the Cup
Our espresso blend is designed for balance — notes of dark chocolate and caramel with a clean, rounded finish. It cuts through oat milk beautifully and holds up well in an Americano without turning sharp or bitter as it cools.
If you usually add two sugars to your coffee, try it without. You might not need them.
Coffee at 7am in Muswell Hill
We open at 7am every day. For a lot of our regulars, that means we’re the first thing that happens to them in the morning. We take that seriously — which is exactly why we’re not cutting corners on what goes in the cup.
Come in for a coffee. Stay for breakfast. We’re at 237 Muswell Hill Broadway, N10 — open every day, 7am to 8pm. Book a table or just walk in.

Reserve a TableEvery morning, before the first customer walks through our door, our kitchen team cracks open a box of Cacklebean eggs. It’s a small ritual, but it matters — because the quality of those eggs shapes every dish that follows.
We’ve been using Cacklebean free-range eggs since we opened at 237 Muswell Hill Broadway, and we’re not planning to change. Here’s why.
What Makes Cacklebean Different
Cacklebean eggs come from a small family farm in the Cotswolds, where hens are genuinely free to roam. We’re not talking about the legal minimum of “free-range” — we mean hens with real outdoor space, a natural diet, and no overcrowding.
The difference shows up immediately when you crack one open. The yolk is a deep, rich amber — not the pale yellow you get from a supermarket egg. It sits high and firm. The white is thick and holds its shape in the pan. These are the details that separate a good breakfast from a great one.
Why It Matters on Your Plate
Eggs are at the centre of almost everything we do at breakfast and brunch. Our Full English, our Eggs Benedict, our Turkish-style poached eggs, our scrambled eggs on sourdough — every one of these dishes relies on the egg being right.
A better egg means a richer hollandaise. It means a poached egg that holds together properly instead of spreading into a cloud of white threads. It means scrambled eggs that are creamy and golden, not rubbery and grey.
You can taste the difference. Our regulars certainly do.
The Honest Truth About Food Sourcing
We could use cheaper eggs. Most cafés do. The margin on a £13 Full English looks better when you’re buying eggs by the tray from a cash-and-carry.
But we think that’s the wrong trade. If you’re going to put something on a plate and serve it to someone, it should be the best version of that thing you can manage. That’s not a marketing line — it’s just how we think about cooking.
Cacklebean costs more. But every dish we make with them is better for it, and we think you can tell.
Come Try Them
We serve Cacklebean eggs in every egg dish on our menu, seven days a week, from 7am. Whether it’s a solo breakfast before work, a leisurely weekend brunch, or a catch-up lunch — you’ll find them in whatever you order.
We’re at 237 Muswell Hill Broadway, N10. Walk-ins always welcome, or book your table online.
